"Revolutionizing Energy Storage with Aluminum-Air"
AlumaPower was founded in 2017 to commercialize proprietary Aluminum-air technology. Now, it has 50 people, been granted 4 patents, and recently completed an oversubscribed series A fundraise ($US 10M). The company operates out of southern Ontario with a complex in Sarnia that houses CAD design and testing teams, a wet lab, and fabrication and systems development space. It is at Chippewa Industrial Development Limited on Aamjiwnaang First Nations territory. The Kitchener / Waterloo site is home to the leadership and Engineering teams. An office was also recently opened in Halifax. In 2023, AlumaPower’s technology underwent 3rd party validation with the battery testing experts at DNV Labs. This summer, AlumaPower conducted a demonstration project in partnership with Purolator Canada that showed that Aluminium-air technology can successfully power e-cargo bikes to enhance last-mile logistics. Target markets for AlumaPower include: electric-vehicle charging, marine propulsion, construction, film production, agritech, remote/back-up power, and defense applications.
