Artificial Light at Night (ALAN) developed very fast over the last 150 years, as a sign of progress and development. ALAN is now seen as an issue: its electricity consumption represents 12-15% to the total electricity produced worldwide representing ca 1.7bn tons of greenhouse gas emission/year. It also creates night pollution that has harmful impacts on biodiversity and human health. It also raises further issues on the environmental imprint of existing solutions (LEDs) as they use toxic materials to be manufactured and their recycling is not possible today. Some policies have been put in place to shut down lights in buildings, but it is not a satisfactory solution.
Glowee offers a new alternative to solve such issues.
