"Revolutionizing Solar Panel Recycling Technology"
The Magdeburg based cleantech startup SOLAR MATERIALS GmbH develops technologies for recycling solar modules from 2021. Their aim is closing the raw material cycle in the solar industry, to protect the environment. The patented recycling process recovers all raw materials from end-of-life solar modules economically for the first time. Since 2023, the company has evolved into a certified solar panel recycling company with the capacity to recycle 3,000 tons of solar panels per year. With the start of the industrial-sized recycling line in 2024 the capacity will rise to 10,000 tons per year. The focus here is particularly on silver and silicon as well as high-quality glass. All the recovered materials consume up to 95% less energy and have an 80% lower carbon footprint. This is how SOLAR MATERIALS contributes to a green energy supply.
