The SET Tech Festival was built around the notion that start-ups need international recognition, both from the public and private side. Not only do energy start-ups need mentorship, investment and technical support, but they require regulatory guidance to be able to navigate various markets. National and international regulatory policies need to catch up with the innovation climate, which is growing at a rapid pace.
That is exactly why the SET Tech Festival is situated during the Berlin Energy Week for the third year, held parallel to the Berlin Energy Transition Dialogue (BETD). The BETD has become a leading international forum for key stakeholders of the energy sector. High-level policymakers, industry, science and civil society are given the opportunity to share their experiences and ideas on a safe, affordable and environmentally responsible global energy transition. In 2018, the conference was home to more than 2.000 participants from over 90 countries, including 40 ministers and state secretaries. The SET Award Ceremony, held in the evening of the Tech Festival, brings together the participants of SET and the BETD, to draw attention to the growing role of innovation in energy transition.
